🏥 Karnataka NEET UG Medical Admission – Domicile Rules

For admission under the 85% State Quota in Karnataka, NEET UG 2025 aspirants must satisfy at least one of the following domicile eligibility criteria. These rules help determine who qualifies as a Karnataka candidate.

✅ Eligibility Criteria for Karnataka State Quota (85% Seats)
    1.    7 Years of Education in Karnataka
Candidate has studied in a government or recognized institution in Karnataka for a minimum of 7 academic years between Class 1 and 12.
    2.    Parents Studied in Karnataka
Candidate has passed Class 11 and 12 from a Karnataka institution, and either parent has studied in Karnataka for at least 7 years.
    3.    Mother Tongue Criteria (Kannada/Tulu/Kodava)
    •    Candidate’s and parents’ mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava.
    •    Parents are domiciled in Karnataka.
    4.    Studied Outside Karnataka
Candidates who studied outside Karnataka but claim eligibility through mother tongue or parent domicile must appear for a Kannada Language Test.
    5.    Defence Personnel
Candidate’s parent is a defence personnel who has served in Karnataka for at least 1 year.
    6.    Children of Ex-Servicemen
Candidates whose ex-servicemen parents have declared Karnataka as their home state are eligible.
    7.    Government Employees
Either parent is a Central or State Government employee who has served in Karnataka for at least 1 year.
    8.    Children of Karnataka MPs
Children of Members of Parliament elected from Karnataka are eligible, even if they studied Class 12 outside the state.
    9.    Migrants from Jammu & Kashmir
Candidates whose parents are migrants from J&K must provide valid supporting documents.
    10.    Kannada Medium Students
Candidates who studied in Kannada Medium for 10 full academic years anywhere in India are exempt from the Kannada Language Test but must have passed their qualifying examination from a Govt. or Govt. recognised institution.
    11.    CAPF Personnel
Children of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel who have declared Karnataka as their home state are eligible. Valid domicile proof from the competent authority must be submitted when required.

🚫 Non-Karnataka Candidates

Candidates who do not meet any of the above criteria will be treated as Non-Karnataka candidates. They are eligible only for Open/Management/NRI quota seats and not for the 85% state quota seats.
