Deemed MBBS Colleges in India 2026
Deemed MBBS colleges in India are private medical institutions that have been granted Deemed-to-be University status by the Government of India under the UGC Act. For the academic year 2026, there are a total of 59 deemed medical colleges across the country offering MBBS courses through NEET UG.
These colleges are located across states such as Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Pondicherry, Telangana, Haryana, Kerala, Odisha, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and others. Among them, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have the highest number of deemed MBBS colleges.
Admission to all deemed MBBS colleges is conducted through NEET UG, followed by centralized counselling managed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Deemed universities do not participate in state counselling and follow a separate counselling process.
In total, around 12,500 MBBS seats are available across all deemed medical colleges in India. These colleges are widely preferred by students seeking private medical education with modern infrastructure, advanced clinical exposure, and national recognition.
