The NEET UG 2026 exam will be held on
03 May 2026, with results likely by
mid-June 2026 and counselling starting from
mid-July 2026, as per official NMC & MCC announcements.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test NEET (UG) – exam will be held on May 3, 2026 in 552 cities
across the country through the National Examination Agency.
There are 128875 MBBS seats in 819 medical colleges across the state as on 29th Oct 2025 as per NMC official website.
There are 950 colleges of AYUSH which include BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS.
About 210774 seats are operational including 27868 seats of 330 dental colleges of Dental BDS.
Admissions will be done in these in the session 2026-27 on the basis of the result of NEET 2026 exam.
National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test NEET (UG) – 2026, here in after referred to as NEET (UG) – 2026.
There shall be conducted a uniform entrance examination to all medical educational institutions
at the undergraduate level and post-graduate level through such designated authority in Hindi,
English and such other languages and in such manner as may be prescribed and the designated
authority shall ensure the conduct of uniform entrance examination in the aforesaid manner;
Provided that not with standing any judgment or order of any court, the provisions of this section
shall not apply, in relation to the uniform entrance examination at the undergraduate level for
the academic year 2016-17 conducted in accordance with any regulations made under this Act,
in respect of the State Government seats (whether in Government Medical College or in a private
Medical College) where such State has not opted for such examinations.

About National Testing Agency (NTA)
The Central Government has established the National Testing Agency to conduct entrance examination
for admission/ fellowship in higher educational institutions.
The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI vide their letter
no. F.No. 19-5/2014-TS-I dated 6th July, 2018 has mandated the NTA to conduct the NEET (UG).
Objectives of NTA
To conduct efficient, transparent and international standard tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admission.
To undertake research on educational, professional and testing system to identify gaps in the knowledge systems.
To identify experts and institutions in setting examination questions.
To produce and disseminate information and research on education and professional development standards.
The responsibility of NTA is limited to the conduct of the entrance test, declaration of result
and providing All India Rank to the Directorate General of Health Services,
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Date: 03 May, 2026 (Sunday) Time: 02:00 p.m. to 05:00 p.m. Duration: Three (03:00) hours
The schedule will remain unaltered even if the date of test is declared a public holiday.

NEET UG 2026 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate) is a
national-level medical entrance examination conducted by the
National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS, BDS,
AYUSH and other undergraduate medical courses in India.
NEET UG 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on
03 May 2026 (Sunday) from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The exam date remains unchanged even if it is declared a public holiday.
NEET UG 2026 is mandatory for admission to
MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS, BVSc & AH courses offered by
government, private, deemed, central universities, AIIMS and JIPMER institutes.
NEET UG 2026 consists of 180 multiple-choice questions
from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Each correct answer carries 4 marks,
making a total of 720 marks, with 1 mark deducted for each incorrect answer.
NEET UG 2026 question paper is available in
13 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali,
Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
As per the latest data, there are more than
1.28 lakh MBBS seats available across government and private
medical colleges in India, filled only through NEET UG counselling.
Yes. As per NMC regulations, qualifying NEET UG is mandatory
for Indian students who wish to pursue MBBS abroad and practice medicine in India.
The qualifying percentile is 50th for General/EWS,
40th for OBC/SC/ST and 45th for PwBD candidates
in the General category. Cut-off marks vary every year.
After NEET UG results, candidates must participate in counselling conducted
by MCC for All India Quota and by respective state authorities
for State Quota seats. Separate registration is required for each counselling.
The minimum age limit is 17 years as on 31 December 2026.
Currently, there is no upper age limit, subject to official notifications.
